When it is one of your student's birthday, when you're in no mood to teach and your students to listen, when your voice sounds like a rusty engine what do you do? Party!! The kids and I decided to hold a birthday party for their classmate. They brought chips and soda. I decided to buy cheesecake as the birthday cake. We played the games that they play in their school called 31 and 4 or 5. In the 31 game, we counted until 31 with each player giving up to 3 numbers each. The person who lands on 31 loses. Losers had to steel their backs for the onslaught of hands and elbows. I got a taste of it too, not for the lack of trying to scare them or bribe them with more or little homework. After 15 minutes they got past ganging up on me and turned on each other. Everyone kept on munching while the games are played. I took pictures of our food every 15 minutes and everyone laughed at the progress we made. I enjoyed out as much as they did. It was one of those rare occasions when I could relax.
