Tension-filled peninsula

It's all over the news - the latest artillery exchange between the north and the south when North Korea fired on Yeonpyeong, a small South Korean island near the disputed maritime border. It's not the first time but the sinking of Cheonan months ago and then THIS kind of made the tension a lot more "visible", made the threat more felt. Right after the incident, a call to prevent further escalation of conflict was made by the korean president. It's a relief to know that the South is exercising some restraint if not, all hell will break loose. I'm just hoping the tension eases in the coming days. My mom would probably ask us to go to the philippines when she hears the news. Hehe

there's really a war that needs to be ended, afterall. and tensions like this send the temperatures higher.
i just hope that they could end it in a non-violent way.
Koreans are used to these kinds of skirmishes and firings but they are definitely scary for us foreigners... haaay...

Hoping for the same thing. I wouldn't want to live in a war zone. I'm a little edgy but my mom, her worries are endless.
